Right puzzler for Wade
Trainer John Wade was mystified by Always Right's performance in the Betfred Grand National Trial at Haydock on Saturday.
The 10-year-old cruised into the straight looking like he was going to play a major part in the finish, but made a mistake a the third-last and was quickly pulled up by James Reveley.
Wade can find nothing physically wrong with him so far, and feels he may still have been suffering from a virus that laid him low after Christmas.
He said: "He just emptied very quickly. He was cruising three out and then hit the fence and that was it. It's not the ground that's causing him to do that, and he's been placed in a Scottish National so it's not the trip either. It may be that he's still suffering a little from a virus, I just don't know.
"Three out I thought he was bound to be in the shake-up, but then James just said he had nothing left and pulled up him rather than jump the next. We'll get him checked out by the vet but he seems OK. It's a mystery."
