Get Me Out Of Here is splashed across the front page of the Racing Post and I must admit I fancy him a tiny bit as I have flagged him up in my Daily Record column. I’ve narrowed the field down to three, last year’s winner, Swinton Hurdle winner Eradicate and Tiger O’Toole who did nothing wrong when winning at Ascot and the race today should be a repetition in that there will be a strong gallop for him to come through on.
Just a heads up Takari one of the pricewise selections was taken out of the race at 8.59 on a self certificate. Still Evan Williams still has Tiger O’Toole.
Ok, it’s time to declare an interest in the race, in that the better half does own a share in Notus De La Tour. He has being box-walking since Monday, the owner that is and the nerves were apparent in the car journey down to Newbury. Part-owner is hopeful, my fingers haven’t been crossed tighter. He is sure to improve from Ascot but I can’t see how he can beat either Walkon or Tiger O’Toole. Whatever, it promises to be an interesting car journey home – listening to football or a jubilant owner, I suspect I will be hearing constant football updates.
Last Saturday I had WILLIAM HOGARTH already typed up in the column and the blog to win the big handicap at Sandown only to be withdrawn on the night before so had to rethink and rewrite, well he runs today at 1.55 and so I have stayed faithful. He ran so well behind Sparrow Hill and he had such good form last season that he was a big price at 25-1, quite what he is now I don’t know but although he has a questionable character at times I just have to stay with him.
At the time of writing Mac is sat beside me in the press room reliving last week’s great game between Arsenal and Newcastle with Alastair Down and George Primarolo listening in. Wished I had a tape recorder.
Really sorry there isn’t much else I fancy today. I can see Finan’s Rainbow being turned over, Kilmurry is being backed and I like Stagecoach Pearl.
So in short William Hogarth at 1.55 and Get Me Out Of Here at 3.35 with a small each-way on Tiger O’Toole and do a combination forecast with Eradicate. Fingers crossed.
Thank you so much to all who emailed me about the Carlisle result in the week, here’s to more like that in the future.
