David Marshall’s Blog, March 13

Sandown, not a racecourse where fields are usually numerically strong bucks that trend today with 24 running in the feature, the Imperial Cup. My three against the field are Tocca Ferro, Dani’s Girl and Qaspal. Hopefully, the bigger priced of the trio Dani’s Girl will oblige, her impressive Ascot win sticks in the memory and the ground will suit. The E.B.F. handicap final has been a great asset to the card since being introduced around a decade ago. Again attracting a large field the pair of Jonjo’s are my two fancie’s, Sonowyouno and Aberdale, the latters connections struck with similar type Albertas Run three years ago. In the mares bumper final Lifestyle will be all the rage but Mizzurka out of the staying chaser Miss Diskin has impressed with her attitude and will battle all the way up the hill.

Never seen ground as deep than at recent meetings at Chepstow, the ground has now dried out to good. Philip Hobbs and Tom O’Brien team up with alikely pair in Qroktou and Lord Crewe, while an outsider to consider in the handicap hurdle is Somerset Rose.

Ayr also race on lively ground and having backed the improving Si Bien the last twice my only worry would be how he copes with the quicker surface today.
