Piper Royal showed definite promise on his only start at Ascot and at first glance looks the good thing in Fontwell’s opener at 2.10pm. The better half was chuffed by the run of Manele Bay at Exeter yesterday. Despite all her problems over the years she ran a blinder to finish a close fourth in the 2.30pm. Today all eyes will be on Current Climate in the 5.10 at Fontwell. He has enormous potential and he is sure to give a good account of himself and reaching the frame would be an unexpected bonus at this stage of his career.
Yesterday under my guise of Racegoers Club committee member I sat at Ascot listening to all their successes with their owners’ syndicates. Today Epic runs for the club in Lingfield’s 2pm and the hope is he may well have a chance of visiting the winner’s enclosure.
How good were Arsenal last night? Sorry Spurs fans but even you have to admit they did a number on Porto.
Looking at the line-up in America for those attempting to attack the Blue Monster course at Doral I can’t see past Phil Mickelson or last week’s winner C Villegas. t’s a specialist course – plenty of water so plenty of bottle needed.
