Captain’s Blog 08 March

We went out on our bikes yesterday on a 12 mile circuit which ended at a local pub for some lunch with friends. A good time was had by all and at about 4.30pm we set off on a 5 mile ride home. We were about a mile from home when we realised that we had left our rucksack in the Pub. There was nothing else for me to do other than to turn around and time trial it back to the Pub. Of course there was no guarantee that it would still be there and if that was the case we would be in trouble because it contained our wallets and house keys. As I pulled up at the Pub the Landlord was clearing glasses outside and on seeing me he asked if I was looking for a Rucksack? That was a relief; and when he presented me with it with all the contents just where they should be I was more than pleased. He told me that two lads had found it on one of the tables outside next to where we had parked our bikes. I went in and found the guys and bought them a pint for their efforts and then set out on the long trek home. We had enjoyed our day and courtesy of my forgetfulness got a fair bit more exercise than we had bargained for.

Make sure you tune into Racing UK today for the first of our two Cheltenham previews. No doubt the guys will be discussing whether Simon Claisse is right to have started watering the course today. Claisse wants the meeting to start on ground that is on the easy side of good and is looking to create that artificially. This of course is not ideal it would be miles better if it would just rain, however with the forecast for the rest of the week being a largely dry one he probably has little option other than to water. This means that horses that want decent ground for the Champion Hurdle are not going to get it, but that has been the way for a number of years now and it has meant that the Champion Hurdle is more a test of stamina than speed these days. Join the guys for in depth analysis of the Meeting today and find out what they fancy for the big races.

I am off today and other than recovering from yesterday’s exertions am going to be heading to the Gym for some light exercise  this morning and will then be watching some Racing this afternoon. Have a great start to the week.

All the Best
