Newbury plays host to the Greatwood Gold Cup and it is rare for me to side with a favourite but I really like Can’t Buy Time as I believe the race will be set up for him by the front-running Battlecry and all A P McCoy needs to do is bide his time until around the second last when Battlecry will start to tire.
Eric’s Charm is my charity bet on the Morning Line A P has an amazing rapport with the horse but as he said on the programme he is perhaps better going round right-handed, he hasn’t got much to beat today in my mind and I don’t think Trabolgan was unlucky at Doncaster, Chief Dan George was always going to be the winner.
Doncaster have a tremendous card as well and the sportingbet.com Grimthorpe Chase is now without Comply Or Die, favourite is Possol but I think he has too much weight and my preference is with Gidam Gidam, the trip may be too short but they will go such a relentless pace that they should draw him through towards the end.
Market forces of Pricewise has seen Iris De Balme backed into 8-1 at Doncaster and Au Courant at Newbury. Sneaky exchange move on Henry King, last week’s Victor Dartnall backed horse finished second, this one goes in Newbury’s 2.05 and here’s hoping it goes one better.
