Alverton
Doncaster & Newbury Review March 05
The ground had dried up a fair bit at both venues, forecast a dry week ahead,so it’s going to make life complicated for Simon Claisse at Cheltenham.
No stars on show, admit to being disappointed with the attitude of Moleskin in the novice hurdle at Newbury, the Geoffrey Gilbey used to be a decent event years ago,sub standard nowadays,as was the overall card, some good finishes but no future stars.
Doncaster witnessed a turn up for the mares nov hurdle when 33’s shot Diavoleria for Mick Easterby headed the two shorties close home to win fair and square,La Sarrazine won the mares handicap hurdle tidily and can progress further, the most impressive winner was French import Salut Flo for David Pipe in the handicap chase, not sure whether it’s the first horse owner Allan Stennett has had a Pond House, usually associated with Alan King and Philip Hobbs.
