Leicester & Fontwell
A top class weekend of jumps racing from Cheltenham, and that is the difference between the National Hunt season to the flat. The Paddy Power meeting is just the start of weekends full of superb racing, whether graded events or competitive handicaps, the Betfair, Hennessy and Tingle Creek on the next three Saturdays and top class supporting events at other courses; including the Ascot hurdle and Fighting Fifth at Newcastle, it is a fantastic time of year for National Hunt fans.
As usual a distinct difference in ground conditions on the hurdle course, the flat course, and the steeplechase course at Leicester, no A.P.McCoy so which jockey is going to take the wide route on the hurdles course, my preference route for all my fancies. One horse guaranteed to handle conditions is Numide, it was a couple of seasons back when he beat Aigle D’or in the Greatwood this weekend, now in the care of Rod Millman, it is a long time since that last win, but a recent all weather flat run should guarantee fitness, just go round the outer please Tom. The decent hurdler Bouggler makes his chase debut at Plumpton and with the Emma Lavelle yard in good form is sure to take all the beating with a clear round, noticed Jason Maguire is travelling all the way down to the Sussex track for one ride Native Gallery in the novice hurdle, though he did ride for the same connections at Ludlow last week.
