Uttoxeter & Wetherby
In the trainer file of Monday’s Racing Post, Philip Hobbs gave a favourable mention to Nicene Creed, who looks to have been found a winning opportunity on his hurdling debut at Uttoxeter. Though the odds are likely to be skinny, in the staying novice hurdle the same papers betting forecast for the favourite Ackertac is 2-1, the way he romped home over slightly shorter on the course around three weeks ago, I would be surprised if that price was available, especially with his opponents making their seasonal debuts. A big price fancy for the handicap hurdle is Oscar Trial, going as well as anything approaching two out at Hexham last time,he stopped rapidly up the hill, in the hope it was lack of fitness, a small punt at a decent price might be worth the risk.
The feature race at Wetherby is the Bobby Renton handicap chase named after the great trainer of yesteryear. In it’s earlier days the Bobby Renton was the top early season novice chase, one season Night Nurse beat the Dickinson tearaway I’m A Driver with the decent Josh Gifford novice Roadhead in third, sadly those days are long gone. The promising Nikos Extra for Alan King this afternoon, if fit on seasonal debut has a good chance. An outsider I made a note of last time is the Ferdy Murphy trained bottom weight Farmer’s Cross in the handicap hurdle, dropped out he made a promising move before fading down the home straight, a decent race, I am going to risk him at a big price.
