No need to seek him anymore, the Elusive Pimpernel just made the 2000 Guineas all that more exciting. He trounced his rivals in the Craven Stakes and set the marker for St Nicholas Abbey and a mouthwatering rematch on the 1 May.
More classic clues over the next couple of days at Newbury, add to that superb jumping action from Cheltenham and Ayr.
Henry Cecil has targeted Newbury’s 3.15 and this year he re-introduces us to Bullet Train who has Derby aspirations so he ought to win. Sweetheart has run some good races over both codes and she returns to the flat turf after a 64 day break she could lead all the way.
Carole’s Legacy appearance in Ayr’s 4pm allows Double Hit to carry a feather weight and she is my selection especially under the guidance of one of my favourite conditionals John Kington.
If there is any justice in the world Restless Harry should come away with a win in Cheltenham’s 5.35, he was right there when falling in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at the Festival when taking a crashing fall.
