Tanya’s Blog - Hooray, Haydock has got the go ahead

Hooray, Haydock has got the go ahead, and the betting credit offices, shops, exchanges are buzzing, there is so much to get stuck into and so many horses being backed.   Check out the concessions with the bookmakers, today it is BetVictor and Stan James as they both have major sponsorship at Ascot and Haydock respectively.   Although I feel Finian’s Rainbow should win off the back of his Kempton Park run in the Desert Orchid Chase, I just feel 12-1 FORPADYDEPLASTERER is too big and to dismiss a horse who is having his 14th Grade 1 is stupid!  The eight runners opens up wonderful avenues to bet each-way first three.   Other than pricewise, All For Free, Zaynar and Noland were all popular in Ascot’s 3.45 while KENTFORD GREY LADY is a very hot favourite with the big three.  She goes in Ascot’s 2.05.  I really think ROYALE’S CHARTER will go well in the first at Ascot, handicap debut for Nick Williams runner.   Picking horses out at Haydock this afternoon is done so at your own risk as the ground will be at the extreme of testing.  I have gone for TAKE THE BREEZE in the Peter Marsh, young Harry Derham has no fear, bundles of confidence and the horse will be kept up with the pace.  You won’t be able to come from behind.   Negatives this morning were Ciceron and Wishfull Thinking and Pearlysteps.  Be aware Spirit Son is a drifter in the Champion Hurdle market out to 16-1 on Betfair, Tony Calvin kindly gave me the heads up last night and this morning the price was still available.   The sun has broken through at Ascot now and the course looks a brighter place.  Good luck with your selections may they all win.   POINTERS   The last five favourites have won Ascot’s 1.30 and the race’s roll of honour includes Grandouet, Zaynar and Binocular   Barry Geraghty has had 15 winners from his last 43 Ascot hurdle rides and ten winners from his last 25 Ascot chase rides   David Pipe has had three wins, two thirds and a fourth in the Holloways Hurdle, Ascot’s 2.35   The winner older than 9 of the Victor Chandler Chase was Meikleor back in 1990   Paul Nicholls is attempting his fourth straight win in the Victor Chandler Chase with Al Ferof.   Ruby Walsh has won on Al Ferof on four of his five starts   Barry Geraghty has ridden Finian’s Rainbow ten times to seven wins   Noel Fehily has ridden Gauvain 18 times to seven wins, three seconds and two thirds   Forpadydeplasterer has finished second on 11 of his 16 starts   Zaynar has won three of his four races at Ascot   Seven of the last 8 winners of Ascot’s 3.45 all carried 10-13 or less   Only one of the last eight favourites has won the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock   Mon Mome has been beaten in all five starts at Haydock
