Looking ahead to Sedgefield, Folkestone and Windsor
A first for Sedgefield with an all amateur card taking place as Nina Carberry takes two mounts for Ferdy Murphy, things didn’t quite go to plan in the race for Coastley last time and though Hollins is sure to be short, I am going to opt for the former. Although no form, Timocracy looks something of a plot in the novice selling hurdle, with the booking of Simon Walker and the faster surface I will be interested to see any market moves forthcoming. A couple of ex-Charlie Mann inmates renew aquaintance in the staying hunter chase, Nadover and Floreana, both equipped with cheekpieces, I always thought Nadover prefered cut in the ground, so preference is for the mare.
The flat racing steps up a gear later on in the week and with the dry weather to continue I suppose the phrase watering to maintain will reappear. As a punting medium Folkestone never appeals, though there is an unusual booking with Stephen Craine riding for Sylvester Kirk, it would be great to see the dual purpose jockey pick up some decent rides this summer.
At Windsor, the Hannon two year old Zebedee has landed the plum stand side draw, a February foal, the market will tell the tale. Some well bred sorts from the right stables in the maiden, none more so than Her Majesty’s Playground, may have been something of a playboy as he has already been gelded. Should be a revealing race for the future.
