Looking ahead to Aintree and Kempton

Day two of Aintree, round one to the bookmakers, and with the first two favourites both having performed with great credit at Cheltenham.  Yesterday’s results somewhat temper confidence, as is the case  every year at Aintree, my suggestion is General Miller each way in the opener.  If Burton Port had missed the Cheltenham Festival I would have expected him to win the novice chase comfortably, now I am not so sure.

I was at Aintree when Monets Garden beat Kauto Star in the Old Roan, he showed at Ascot he still retains his enthusiasm, so I will not desert him round his favourite course.  Wee Robbie jumped superbly round Newbury last time and with last years successful Grand National jockey, Liam Treadwell, on top hopefully he will take to the fences.  The staying novice hurdle has a wide open look to it and the concluding two events, the staying handicap hurdle and the mares bumper look no easier to solve.

Plenty of runners at Kempton where Cois Farraig deserves to break his maiden over hurdles before embarking on a chasing career next season.  Kings Forest and Priors Glen may land a double for Emma Lavelle and Jack Doyle in the following two races.
