Tanya’s Blog - Value in abundance for you all

Value in abundance for you all, checking out the betting pages of the Racing Post percentages of 92, 97, 101, 102 and even 111 for the 2.00 at Donny are stuff of dreams.  Never has the punter had it so good.  All the bets have to do now is win!!!    Zip Top looked tremendous walking round the paddock this morning, Camelot’s reputation precedes him, and he has much to live up to, something the likes of William Hill and Paddy Power are willing to take on.  Having original galloped into the Camelot camp I am now seriously wavering.    This is the favourite for the Derby we are talking about as well, if he gets defeated there’ll be much scurrying in the offices with huge rethinks!   However I have other concerns my whole weekend rests on the strength of the Middle Park Stakes as I fancy the sixth and seventh in the race.  Yes SAIGON and WEST LEAKE DIMAN are my two, one at Doncaster, one at Newbury.    Right Step is heavily backed in Newbury’s 3.45 with huge liabilities for Coral if it wins.    The press room is steadily filling up, I have a great draw alongside Simon Mapletoft and the photographers are taking their places the amount of equipment they have to haul around, no wonder Dan Abraham is gasping for oxygen having tackled the umpteen stairs, not helpful but I told him he should have taken the lift!   Can’t sign off without mentioning my beloved Aintree, the great course opens its doors once more and today I like CATERGORICAL at 5.15 and tomorrow GALAXY ROCK at 3.10 and SPORTS LINE at 3.45.  Much to look forward to today including hopefully a winner.   POINTERS   Aidan O’Brien may have won the Racing Post Trophy 5 times since 1997 but since 2003 he has had 18 runners and only one winner   Five of the last seven winners of the Racing Post Trophy had won over a mile   Over the last twenty years favourites have a 50% strike rate in the Racing Post Trophy   Eight of the last ten winners of the Racing Post Trophy had finished first or second on their last two starts   Only one winning favourite of the Horris Hill Stakes in the last ten years   The last ten winners of the Horris Hill had finished no worse than third on their previous start   Four of the last five winners of the Doncaster Stakes (2.30) had won last time out   Nicky Richards, courtesy of Monet’s Garden, has won the Old Roan Chase three times in the last four years
