Tanyas Blog - There is plenty to like about today’s racing

Super 8, no not a bet, but instead pure film-making genius, old fashion values of silver screen attention to detail and a triumph for J. J. Abrams.  If you are so inclined in visiting the cinema, especially if you like Sci-Fi, this is a must see.   Can’t believe that Newbury was bathed in sunlight this morning as where I’m sat it is pouring with rain.  There is plenty to like about today’s racing although it may be destination Fratton Park for me later.  No I don’t support Portsmouth or Brighton but it’s my rostered Saturday off and that looks the best game to go and see even though it’s in the Championship.  The cynic in me says get ready for the 0-0 boring draw.     Back to Newbury and BROWN PANTHER should bounce back to his imperious form of Royal Ascot, although Richard Hughes on the Morning Line sounded quietly confident regarding adversary Census, let’s hope they both run well and the pair head straight to Doncaster for the Ladbrokes St Leger.     Richard Hughes may have put Dubawi Gold up as his charity bet but the horse has plenty to find with selection EXCELEBRATION.  He for me and many others has offered up Frankel his sternest tests.     Tajneed is rightly favourite for the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon and he is going to be in my combination forecast for the race with Parisian Pyramid and my pick ADDICTIVE DREAM.  Walter Swinburn’s runner ran over the minimum trip at Ascot’s Shergar Cup meeting encountering plenty of trouble in running, hopefully he will benefit from a clearer run.   Finally tonight and 11.15 it’s the Arlington Million, WIGMORE HALL has to be each-way value with his style of running.  He could even win it on the line and what a triumph that would be for Hayley Turner.   POINTERS   Tajneed has had five races at Ripon winning four and finishing runner-up in the other.  Which does include first and second in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap in his career.   Nine of the last 11 winners of the Great St Wilfrid were drawn low   I know he has no runners today Roger Charlton will tomorrow and next week, 11 of his last 19 runners have won so he can be considered a trainer to follow   Frankie Dettori has had five winners from his last ten rides   Johnny Murtagh has had four winners from his last ten rides   William Haggas has had six winners, two seconds and two thirds from his last 15 runners
