DONCASTER HAS NOT WATERED!!!!!!  Contrary to reports in the paper’s or in the media Doncaster racecourse has not watered.  Clerk of the course noted the rain forecast at the start of the week and kept the taps switched off.

Even so the going is soft but it has been a dry night and bright start to Saturday.  Low numbers with me will be favoured in both the straight mile races as there is virginal ground which hasn’t been used from a mile out to the opening of the bend whereas on the stand side that equivalent strip of ground has been pounded on since Portland then Racing Post Trophy meeting and finally November handicap meeting and with our winter hasn’t been given a chance to recover.

If the Spring Mile is won by horses running from a low numbered stall then I think we will see the shortest priced favourite of the William Hill Lincoln.  I have two selections in the Spring Mile in Moynahan and Conry, with the latter being my charity bet.  Moynahan ran in the 2008 2000 Guineas and is finally now being given a chance by the handicapper while Conry loves soft ground and I think at 20-1 his price is too big.

In the Lincoln I pick Tiger Reigns as Michael Dods runner has the right make-up for this race.  Worth a saver on the favourite Penitent as he could be poised to make a mockery of the handicapper.

I’ll be in the car when the Dubai World Cup is run and shall watch a recording later.
