I will have to be short and sweet here on the Blog due to time constraints I am afraid. I decided to have a lie in this morning which went on a good deal longer than I had planned and I am now under pressure to get to work in the next hour or so. First of all I hope you all got on the Blog selection County Zen yesterday which obliged for us at a juicy 13/2 to back up the thursday night winner Cold Turkey. We at least have some betting tokens to go to war with on what is a bumper day of Racing on your favourite Racing Channel. Newbury, Bangor, Kempton and Dubai will be broadcast straight into your living rooms this afternoon and I will be in the studio to analyse all the action from The World Cup in Dubai.
The World Cup this year is very competitive. I have narrowed it down to three horses. My number one choice is Gio Ponti. This horse has been aimed at the race, will act on the surface and brings the best form into the race namely his second place in the Breeders Cup Classic. My second choice is Red Desire. This filly won round three of the Maktoum Challenge displaying a potent turn of foot in doing so. She won with a little bit in hand and can make the frame at least. My third choice is Gitano Hernando who won the Grade 1 Goodwood at Santa Anita and then last time up was an impressive winner at Lingfield. His speed figure at Lingfield was 125, if you think that Twice Over has only ever run a figure of 115 then that put into perspective the chances of marco Botti’s horse. These are my three and I am going to put up both Gitano Hernando and Gio Ponti each way in the race. They both represent decent value at 5/1 and 6/1 respectively.
The Dubai card is a superb one and my other leading fancy is for Presvis in the Dubai Duty Free. Yes, he is favourite but he deserves to be and surely there is no monster like Gladiatorus lurking around this year to scupper his chances. He will be very hard to beat but is well found in the market at 5/2.
