Looking ahead to Ayr, Chepstow and Ludlow
Rain moving north and lingering, one wonders whether the ground will soften appreciably by the start time. Three odds on shots to start the day followed by a handicap chase where there looks to be plenty of pace. Three times course winner Something Silver can do it either way, therefore as long as he doesn’t get into a pace war with Yankee Holiday he is fancied to break his duck for the season.
Chepstow survived it’s morning inspection, though the ground is likely to be bottomless as in previous meetings, the advice is to tread carefully, though Tarateeno seems to cope with such conditions.
As usual Ludlow provides decent ground, the run round the bend to the first in the novice chase will be fast, both King Edmund and Viper are free going types and the first can sometimes be a tricky fence so punters may soon know their fate as early as this obstacle. Lyster landed a touch for connections a couple of years ago at Southwell, so it will be interesting if market support came for it today. Kokkokila may well appreciate the better ground than Folkestone last time in the mares novice hurdle.
