Chrisdonlady (advised 7/1) was a good winner for the blog on Monday. Given a peach of a ride from her female amateur the mare landed a nice gamble, being backed down from 7/1 to 9/2. I have looked towards Ireland again today to seek out any value to be had. Clonmel’s seven race card is fairly moderate though there are a few horses which make some appeal at the current prices. Hot Or What looks an each way alternative to the quirky Wikaala in the beginners chase at 7.50. A repeat of her third behind For Bill at Thurles in the winter would give her leading claims in this. The distance should be no problem while the booking of Barry Geraghty is a massive positive – Barry has had one winner and a second from two rides for the stable in the last few weeks. On ability the mare shouldn’t really be able to beat Wikaala and Auenschutze although both those runners have big question marks against them. Auenschutze has not won since 2008 and was never the cleanest of jumpers over hurdles while Wikaala is far from certain to be suited to this 2m4f trip. At 5/1 Hot Or What is a bet to nothing. In the opening maiden hurdle Another Gear is an interesting runner for Mags Mullins. A half brother to useful hurdler Ballyadam Brook the 5yo shaped with a bundle of promise when finishing sixth behind Greenbelt Star at Punchestown three weeks ago. The Mullins youngster travelled powerfully for a long way that day before weakening entering the home straight. This is a weaker race tonight and he ought to have a say in the finish if being able to settle from the start. Ordinary Man is the one to beat and should win though is no value at 11/8 having had plenty of chances to break his duck. Last of all a quick mention for Rose Of Fairyhill in the handicap chase at 8.20. This is not my sort of race but I thought she looked fairly weighted on the best of her point to point form.
