Captain’s Blog, March 22

Proud to have finished, not too chuffed with my time. That would be the assessment of my Reading Half Marathon efforts yesterday. I am feeling the effects of my exertions this morning and am not sure I will be putting myself through the same amount of pain again anytime soon. I had to run through bouts of cramp in the last couple of miles which did not help, but in truth I am not a marathon or even half marathon runner and retirement from this particular sport is more than imminent. The plus side of the day was that it was a day away from Racing which was much needed after the rigors of the Festival. It was also the day when ten days of alcoholic abstinence came to an end. Having a few beers was not the best way to rehydrate I guess, but to my mind they were very well deserved.

I have a day off today and apart from trying to get my legs to work again I am going to be doing a few jobs out in the garden and then this evening will be settling down to watch Leeds play Millwall live on SKY. My week is set to be a busy one culminating in the Dubai World Cup meeting on Saturday. I will be working on this meeting for Racing UK and am really looking forward to it. The two horses I am looking to back are Gio Ponti in the Dubai World Cup and Prescis int Dubai Duty Free. Both horses have outstanding chances and I will be delving into those races this week before wagering some hard earned. I suspect that my study will merely confirm to me that these horses have a great chance, but it is always best tread carefully when hard cash is involved.

Today’s Selection is quite a strong one. Ninth House was our selection here on the Blog a couple of weeks ago and although defeated ran a race of great promise and is a strong selection again today.

A short blog today due to time constraints but I will be back with gusto tomorrow.

Enjoy the Sun.
